In
this March 2010 Edition:
Grant's News
& Comments.
Welcome to the March HYPNOTES. Since
the last edition, I have returned from a Modern Suggestive Hypnotherapy
course in Auckland, a wonderful Hypnosis Stage Show for more than 400 Massey
University students in Palmerston North - and finally ..... nearly 4 weeks
holiday in Europe and cruising the Mediterranean. So I'm rested,
refreshed and motivated to take on the rest of the year with renewed optimism
and enthusiasm! (Hey, that sounds like an excerpt from one of
my recordings!) I'm looking forward, this year, to fronting at least
4 more training weeks and probably attending one of, or both, the NZAPH
and NZHF conferences.
In this later and smaller than usual.
edition; there is a last call for presenters to address the 2010 NZHF Conference
in August - and a little more information on international speakers already
confirmed. Also, the 2010 Hypno-Expo in Florida is outlined.
On a sader note, well known Auckland
Hypnotherapist Len Mason passed away on Tuesday March 9th. I offer condolences
to all his family and friends. I met Len on numerous conferences
and always related well to his positivity and practicality. He will
be missed. |

NZHF Conference
2010
from the NZHF Events Team
Greetings fellow health professionals.
As you may be aware, the New Zealand Hypnotherapy Federation, the umbrella
organisation – the Peak Body - for the profession, organises the National
Hypnotherapy Conference weekend each year in Auckland. This year is its
16th anniversary.
Established in 1993, the Federation
was responsible for bringing together the various professional associations,
which together formed the membership of the budding organisation. Membership
was opened in 2003 to other hypnotherapy organisations, and has a current
membership of eight organisations; professional associations, training
schools and the registration board. Initially a one day event, the
conference was extended in 2004 to include On-going Training Workshops
on the Sunday, and extended the conference to a full two day event.
The workshops have proved to be very popular with attendees.
In 2005 the Hypnotherapy Award Dinner
was launched, held on the Saturday evening of the weekend. This provides
the Federation member organisations with an opportunity to honour those
whom have given excellent service and/or dedication in some way to their
organisation and/or the profession, or because of their own achievements
within the field.
Last
year’s conference weekend was one of the largest, and best, ever held.
We were honoured to have as Key Note Speaker and guest presenter, Mr Roy
Hunter. After collating delegate’s feedback forms, this was the best ever
weekend. Over 99% of them stated the value for money was very good or excellent!
About the Workshop:
“An exceptional day. The quality
and content, the patient and thoughtful responses, to questions and queries
have been most impressive. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn first-hand
from someone with real knowledge and commitment to this therapy.” Briget
Fox Rogers.
This year’s conference is already
stacking up to be as good as last year, and you will want to be there.
We have already confirmed two international presenters –
-
Gary Johnston - Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder.
-
Alan Patching - HypnoFertility
Plus... we are lining up other stimulating
and worthwhile presenters for you. And YOU can be part of this event...
not only by attending, but by presenting.
This year the conference weekend
will be held on 28th – 29th August in Auckland. Remember to put the dates
in your appointment book now, to ensure you are able to attend. More
details will be forwarded to you as they come to hand.
We invite those of you who are interested
in presenting a paper at this event, to complete the application form (see
pages 4-5) and return by 1st April 2010. Topics requested by delegates
are listed below. Or you may have other topics that you have experience

Feedback from past conferences has indicted
that many delegates prefer presentations relevent to hypnotherapy or their
hypnotherapy business, with more time spent on information about utilizing
hypnotherapy techniques. E.g. case studies, demonstrations, practise.
It would be helpful if you could included one of more of these in your
presentation, if appropriate.
PLEASE NOTE:
-
For your application to be considered
you must complete all of the information in the form, including an outline
of your presentation, and return by 1st April.
-
By applying to present you are agreeing
to your presentation being recorded, and the recordings being onsold to
hypnotherapists and hypnotherapy students.
-
If chosen to present you will have your
presentation and contact details included in the conference booklet. Your
presentation details will be edited for inclusion in the conference notice.
-
No commercial advertising is allowed
during the presentations. Presenters and others, may hire a table to display
books and/or products, or place an advertisment in the conference booklet
and/or on the Federation web site. Please contact Susan Wood info@alphahypnosis.co.nz
for more details.
-
It would appreciated if you send your
application as a MS Word document, or similar, rather than a PDF.

Changing Health
Behaviours
A book and CD by Registered Hypnotherapist
Mike Reeves-McMillan
Good advice by itself doesn’t change
behaviour, which is why people struggle to stop smoking, lose weight, exercise
more, sleep well, drink in moderation and deal with stress. So as well
as sound advice on these topics, Changing Health Behaviours:
-
incorporates an MP3 CD with 20 relaxing
tracks to provide motivation along with the information, and
-
teaches simple, practical change techniques
that work in real life.
Book and CD together are only $29, and
are available from Mike's website: http://hypno.co.nz/chb |

As a hypnotherapist, it is always
a pleasure to learn from some of the greats in our field. Dr. Stephen Gilligan
has been honoured by the Milton Erickson Foundation by receiving the rarely
given Lifetime Achievement Award in honour of his many contributions. Steve
studied directly with Dr. Milton H. Erickson for many years and is known
widely for his neo-Ericksonian approach which incorporates his own work
on self-relations.
We are pleased to announce
Trance Camp 2010 being held in Sydney in April 2010.
Trance Camp is open to anyone seriously
interested in generative personal change and altered states of consciousness.
This one or two week journey into the self is an experiential community
for learning and experiencing trance while incorporating other consciousness-enhancing
tools into practice. During Trance Camp, you will experience and learn
a variety of skills allowing a new connection to self and personal transformation.
Many participants return to Trance Camp year after year to experience not
only profound trance, but Steve himself. This is a must-be-at workshop
for all hypnotherapists in 2010.
