Welcome and thanks for reading
this May 2010 edition of HYPNOTES.
Only ONE Place Left!
The July 19th-23rd Hypnosis New
Zealand Advanced Hypnotherapy course is almost full - with just one space
left now! So if you've been considering attending and advancing your Hypnotherapy
techniques, then please complete/return a registration
form to reserve your place. See more info on the
course below.
Peer Support Network a Great Success
The brand new Hypnosis New Zealand
Peer Support Network (that I set up barely a month ago) has surged
ahead and is now approaching 30 members! So all those past HNZ students
who'd like to give and receive support to others, please let me know by
email or telephone and I'll add you to the network. It's all about
sharing! (HNZ students can check out the Peer Support Network
on the hidden resources page that only you have access to. Email me for
a new link, if you've lost the way in.)
Busy Time Ahead
We're well into the busy mid-year
months and the economic recovery (what recession?) seems well entrenched
now. Hypnosis New Zealand is growing and maturing to match its maker.
June will see me presenting another of my very popular Modern Suggestive
Hypnotherapy courses in Auckland - as well as attending the NZAPH conference
in Taupo on my way home. July is the new Hypnosis New Zealand Advanced
Hypnotherapy course - and then August is the NZHF conference in Auckland.
Lots of hours, lots of smiles and lots of miles! (In my new "NOTIST"
mobile.)
Watch This Space
There will be some huge news on
the Modern Suggestive Hypnotherapy front in the next couple of months,
so please watch this space! |

RIP
Gil Boyne
28th September 1924 – 6th May
2010
(From Roger Saxelby)
It is with very deep sadness and
heartache that I report that Gil Boyne passed away in London England.
Gil Boyne, probably more than any
of the modern day Masters of Hypnotherapy had such an impact on the profession
in modern times. He transformed the profession in many ways. He is an icon
in the history of hypnosis. Gil was highly respected by his peers,
and could also be very controversial at times. Love him or hate him, his
legacy will live on.
For those who had the honour of learning
from him, I’m sure you will agree that his rapid techniques of “Transforming
Therapy” had a major impact on how many of us work with clients. I agree
with Scott Sandiland who says on www.hypnothoughts.com “for the few of
you who didn't know of him, that you were absolutely impacted by him.”
Many of you may not know of the time
and effort Gil put in to prevent “The Establishment” outlawing “lay” practitioners.
He appeared in may court cases to fight for the open practice of hypnotherapy.
We owe him much gratitude, because if ‘they’ had won in the USA it could
well have had an influence elsewhere, and we may not have had the freedom
to practice Hypnotherapy in this country as we do today.
I first met Gil in Anaheim (USA),
and had the honour of training with him in 1990. That was an inspiring
experience and from then on I totally changed the way I worked with my
clients.
Alpha Hypnosis Training had the honour
of hosting and organising training seminars for Gill on his visits to New
Zealand, where he taught his rapid techniques of Transforming Therapy.
The man had a charismatic presence, and students held onto his every word.
We were privileged to be considered a friend as well as a colleague, and
to be granted, by Gil, exclusive N.Z. rights to show his training videos
to our students.
“Our profession has lost a
giant who can only be replaced by the aggregate of his many students.
No single person will fill his shoes, though we will all stand on his shoulders.
Gil Boyne was a force of nature in our field who will always be remembered
with deserved reverence.” Scott Sandiland http://www.hypnothoughts.com/forum/topics/rip-gil-boyne.
The photo above is also from that site.
There are many places on the internet
to find out more about Gil, and I encourage you to learn more about him.
His own web site is http://gil-boyne.com
and there are many other sites and information about him on the web.
Sad though this day is with Gil’s
passing, let us spend some moments reflecting on this great man in our
profession. And, let us also acknowledge and celebrate his amazing legacy
to our profession and to us as Hypnotherapists.

Workshop: Your Therapeutic
Feast
This therapeutic feast is divided
into 3 dining delights and aimed to satisfy the hungriest therapist.
Entrée: Client-Centred
Hypnotherapy (CCH).
A tasty morsel blended with your
client’s words, gestures and utterings to develop a taste for applying
CCH concepts which after all is the main course.
Main Course: Metaphors
A sumptuous blend of delicacies
that stimulate the cognitive and conative taste buds. This nutritional
feast will synthesise your senses and inspire your mind to savour each
titbit.
Dessert: Hypnothetical
Some of you will have the opportunity
to take part in this final serving. Whilst this will be a fun activity
it is full bodied to encompass the flavours decanted from our entrée
and main course not so delicately balanced with a touch of simulated role
play. In real life, the culinary zenith of every good meal is often
served with a ‘whine’ and the occasional salty tear. The catharsis
of emotional cognition leaves your client feeling satiated if not tired
and drained.

11.45 – 12.45pm Lunch

12.45 - 4.00pm Shelley
Stockwell-Nicholas, PhD (includes 15 mins tea/coffee break)
Workshop: STOCKWELL’S JOY THERAPY
This highly experiential and often
life-transforming training takes you into the realms of chuckle worthy
joy as a tool for positive change, as therapy and for just plain fun. Dr
Shelley’s approach is a perfect adjunct for any helper. Explore the underlying
principles of Laughter. Terrific for people of all ages, special needs
groups, and as a way to have people celebrate themselves and others. You’ll
learn to teach to release tension in safe and positive ways. Includes how
to overcome trauma with joy and a step-by-step instructional session. With
laughter exercises like the inner smile and belly laugh bonding and anchoring.
About Shelley:
A Hypnotherapist for 30 years, Dr
Shelley is the author of numerous hypnosis CDs, DVDs and 14 books including
“Hypnosis How To Put A Smile On Your Face & Money In Your Pocket,”
“Denial Is Not A River In Egypt” and “Stockwell’s Hypnosis Dictionary Script
Book.” She co-authored three books with the legendary Ormond McGill and

NZHF Conference
2010
from the NZHF Events Team
Greetings fellow health professionals.
As you may be aware, the New Zealand Hypnotherapy Federation, the umbrella
organisation – the Peak Body - for the profession, organises the National
Hypnotherapy Conference weekend each year in Auckland. This year is its
16th anniversary.
Established in 1993, the Federation
was responsible for bringing together the various professional associations,
which together formed the membership of the budding organisation. Membership
was opened in 2003 to other hypnotherapy organisations, and has a current
membership of eight organisations; professional associations, training
schools and the registration board. Initially a one day event, the
conference was extended in 2004 to include On-going Training Workshops
on the Sunday, and extended the conference to a full two day event.
The workshops have proved to be very popular with attendees.
In 2005 the Hypnotherapy Award Dinner
was launched, held on the Saturday evening of the weekend. This provides
the Federation member organisations with an opportunity to honour those
whom have given excellent service and/or dedication in some way to their
organisation and/or the profession, or because of their own achievements
within the field.
Last
year’s conference weekend was one of the largest, and best, ever held.
We were honoured to have as Key Note Speaker and guest presenter, Mr Roy
Hunter. After collating delegates feedback forms, this was the best ever
weekend. Over 99% of them stated the value for money was very good or excellent!
About the Workshop:
“An exceptional day. The quality
and content, the patient and thoughtful responses, to questions and queries
have been most impressive. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn first-hand
from someone with real knowledge and commitment to this therapy.” Briget
Fox Rogers.
This year’s conference is already
stacking up to be as good as last year, and you will want to be there.
We have already confirmed two international presenters –
-
Gary Johnston - Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder.
-
Alan Patching - HypnoFertility
