The biggest
news in this month's edition is probably the revamped Hypnosis
New Zealand Membership
Information page which now features access to the brand new Members' Library.

"Featured
Hypnotherapist" this month is Lorraine Morrow from Alexandra.
Lorraine has completed the Hypnosis New Zealand Certificate,
Diploma and Advanced Diploma of
Hypnotherapy courses and is a fine practitioner. Next month,
we are
featuring Allison Ludlow from Hawkes Bay.
We are still promoting the exciting new site for NZ
based Natural Therapists - offering a webpage for 6 months Free
Trial - plus Free Advertising for events! The
site is just over two months old and growing well. At last
count

Hypnotherapist: Lorraine Morrow
Hi
there, I'm Lorraine Morrow and I am a proud graduate of Hypnosis New
Zealand. In August I attended the Advanced Hypnotherapy
Course
with Grant. As well as being an opportunity to
enhance and
cement my knowledge of hypnotherapy, I also spent the week getting to
know some really inspirational people.
I
have had many job descriptions in my life but none more challenging or
rewarding than being mother to my five children. I live in
Alexandra in beautiful Central Otago with my husband and teenage son.
We have a saying down here amongst the locals; "It's just another day
in Paradise"
To
think we used to laugh at the old sexist maxim "Its a woman's
prerogative to change her mind." The good news is we can all
do
it! As Hypnotherapists we have the skills and the honour of
assisting people to change their minds and
therefore
change their lives for the better. I personally feel
privileged
to be working with the mind, having had a lot of fun and challenges
with my own. I enjoy expanding my knowledge of it and learn something
new everyday. I am particularly passionate about stress
management
and anxiety, having needed to learn these skills for myself has made me
aware of their impact on our lives both mentally and physically and it
would seem even more so in today's world.
I
love being a hypnotherapist, helping people to make positive changes in
their lives because truly.... It is the mind that changes
everything!

HNZ Members Library
One of the most progressive
additions to Hypnosis New Zealand in recent times, is the launch of our
Members
Library.
This is a service that has been offered in the past from
other
groups, but this new Hypnosis New Zealand service is very visible to
members and it's workable! If you visit the Membership
Information page (from the link at
the top left of all three HNZ websites, or via this link)
you'll be able to
see the first few book titles already listed.
Hypnosis
New Zealand members can sign in to the restricted
area to
read a short synopsis on each book and to arrange to borrow one book at a time via the
ordering system there. Payment of a nominal fee is to cover
return courier. All books are sent via courier and include a
prepaid return addressed courier pack for the book's return at the end
of the loan period.
More interesting and informative Hypnosis books are on order and the
library stock is expected to rise steadily over time. |
2012 Hypnotherapy Courses
The
course dates and fees have all been announced for next year and there
is plenty of scope for initial (Certificate
in Hypnotherapy), intermediate (Diploma
of Hypnotherapy)
and advanced (Diploma
of Advanced Hypnotherapy) training with Hypnosis New
Zealand.

This Advanced
Hypnotherapy course is
aimed at those who have completed a previous Hypnosis New Zealand
Modern
Suggestive Hypnotherapy course, or who can demonstrate an existing
familiarity
with the theories and applications of Suggestive
Hypnotherapy. It features the advanced Analytical
Hypnotherapy procedure of age regression and more serious health and
behavioural issues such as fertility and childbirth, pain management,
depression, sexual dysfunctions and many more useful topics!
On completion of the post-course multi-part
examination, you will receive the Hypnosis
New Zealand Diploma of Advanced Hypnotherapy. (HNZDAH)

What Makes for a
Better Hypnotherapist?
Every
Hypnotherapist with an opinion (and
that's pretty much all of
them) has a different idea on the degree of
skill/knowledge
required nowadays to become a "better" Hypnotherapist. "Better"
in whose eyes though? Hypnotherapists,
like all professionals,
are ultimately judged by their clients,
moreso than by their peers.
Their reputation is largely a factor of their ability to naturally
build a strong rapport based on mutual respect and intention with a
majority of clients. Many of the successes generated, are
subsequently then based on this rapport.
Because
Hypnotherapy is such a free natural therapy, practitioners range from
those lay Hypnotists who can induce
a trance and present a few simple suggestions, right through to those
who have done every training imaginable and know a myriad of
complicated techniques from a multitude of different sources.
But which is the better Hypnotherapist? In my opinion, neither
.... they're simply
different! Every client and Hypnotherapist combination will
interact differently - and often the results have less to do with the
training and more to do with the respect, intentions and rapport
between the two.
As an illustration of this, think about some of the most highly trained
health professionals in your community and which you would and wouldn't
visit as a patient. There are probably several who you would
avoid - regardless of their training; and those who you would
consult because of their reputation. It's highly likely that the
best reputations are primarily a combination of the practitioner's
personality and attitude, before their theoretical or even practical
ability. They
are, after all, called "practitioners"! And supposedly have all been
trained to a similar standard.
In my experience, it seems that most Hypnotherapists started by dabbling! They learned a
few inductions, a few suggestions and tried it out ... and it
worked! They successfully induced a trance and probably provided
their client (usually a friend)
with some positive benefits from their "therapy". But, how much of the
positive result was due to the actual technique and how much was due to
the rapport, expectation and intention of each to gain a positive
result?
Every
week I receive dozens of emails and phonecalls from a prospective
Hypnotherapy clients from all over NZ, requesting my recommendation of
the best
Hypnotherapist in their area. I have a very specific and rather
standard answer. After learning where the prospective client
resides, I choose 2 or 3 of the (in
my opinion) best Hypnotherapists for the purpose (usually from my Directory of NZ Hypnotherapists) and
provide the prospective client with their contact details and
suggestions to call them all!
In most cases, one of those Hypnotherapists will strike the most
significant instant rapport with the prospective client and probably be
the "better" Hypnotherapist for that person.
